Independent contractors use their own vehicles to perform transportation. They are their own bosses so they control the hours they work. They are responsible for their own expenses, and are paid by mileage. A motivated independent contractor can make over $150/day. An independent contractor can switch to an employee driver as long as it becomes available in their area.
Employee drivers use a company vehicle and are paid by the hour. The hourly rate differs by the city the driver is applying for. Richwood Transport is responsible for expenses, but will also determine your work hours. We do not use employee drivers in all of our service areas, but we are frequently expanding. Drivers can always start as an independent contractor and switch to employee.
